This type of reactive dye possesses VS (Vinyl Sulphone) as its reactive group. These dyes react chemically with the hydroxyl group of cellulose and form firm, covalent linkages in the presence of Alkali. The best thing about this type of dyes is that they are versatile enough to suit different dyeing methods.
The result of these dyes is excellent and the shades come brilliant and clean, without producing any variations in dyeing or printing. The dyeing methods can be classified under the exhaust and padding processes, however standing baths are not recommended.
Main features of VS dyes are as follows:-
- They are dischargeable, have excellent brightness & possess good wet fastness.
- They are suitable for different pad dyeing methods, exhaust & discharge printing.
- They offer ease of washing off unfixed dyestuffs, which means that there would be minimum staining of the white ground in printing.
- They are applicable at 40oC & 60oC
